Over Memorial Day weekend we went to Scotland. We took the train from Ely to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. We stayed on the edge of the city right by the ocean. The first night we went to Edinburgh Castle. Logan and I decided that castles pretty much are all going to look the same on the inside, but it was still cool. At the castle we caught up with some of our friends. We went to dinner and walked a little down the royal mile. We also went into a house of illusions. It was way fun, had great illusions, and had a camera obscura which viewed all of Edinburgh. That night we went to a "Hidden and Haunted" tour that took us underground and told ghost stories - it wasn't that scary.. even for me. Sunday we went on an all day bus tour through the Scotland highlands. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! The bus took us to Loch Ness where we got on a boat and searched for the Loch Ness Monster.. no luck. I am glad we did the tour because we got to see so much of Scotland and it was so gorgeous; however, I get motion sickness and will never again decide to go on a 12 hour bus tour through winding hills. I did learn on this trip that 'loch' means lake and 'glen' means valley. We returned to Edinburgh that evening, went to a Scottish pub (much like an English pub), and had dinner with our friends. I also tried Haggis on this trip. Haggis is fried sheep intestines.. it tastes like slimy sausage and is disgusting. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
